Uniform Policy
The NDHS School Uniform policy has been approved by the School Board and in accordance with Department of Education policy and guidelines on dress standards for students in public schools. It has been developed in consultation with staff, students and families.
Our uniform policy aims to:
>> Promote a positive image of self and the school
>> Reflect pride in both the self and the school
>> Help create a sense of identity and belonging
>> Promote sun smart and work safe practices
>> Promote equity
>> Provide a means to easily identify NDHS students both on and off the school grounds
Under this policy, students are required to wear our school uniform every school day and when representing the school outside of normal school days. At NDHS there is an expectation that students will come to school in school uniform that is clean, safe and appropriate for the day’s activities.
Primary and Secondary students have the same uniform with the exception of Country Week and Leavers shirts.
The NDHS School uniform is as follows:
>> Official School Polo Shirt: School colours as printed
>> Polo Shirt: Gold or Bottle Green
>> Jumper: Bottle Green
>> Jacket: Bottle Green and Gold
>> Gingham Dress: Bottle Green
>> Shorts: Bottle Green
>> Skorts: Bottle Green
>> Tracksuit Pants: Bottle Green
>> Country Week Polo Shirt (Secondary students only): School colours as printed
>> Leavers Shirt (Year 10 only): School colours as printed
Please note that Secondary students are no longer able to wear black or grey bottoms. They must wear bottle green shorts, skorts or pants as per the uniform policy.
Variations on jumper, shorts and skorts are permitted as long as they are bottle green and do not bear any logos or images other than the NDHS logo. Although uniforms with the school logo is preferable, plain uniform items are permitted.
What is NOT permitted:
>> Leggings
>> Bike shorts
>> Ill-fitting clothes (i.e. too small)
>> Clothes in disrepair (i.e. ripped, large holes etc.)
>> Any logos or images other than the NDHS logo
Shoes:
Shoes need to be sturdy and appropriate for the activity (i.e. closed in shoes for D&T, Science, Home Economics and Physical Education or other sporting activities). Students are not permitted to wear thongs, ugg boots, strapless sandals or high heels.
Jewellery:
Jewellery may be worn provided it is safe (i.e. no dangly earrings or chains) and does not include offensive words or slogans.

>> Shorts: Bottle Green
>> Skorts: Bottle Green

Free Dress Days
At times throughout the year, NDHS will have “Free Dress Days” usually as a fundraiser for a specific cause run though the Student Council or other school groups. There is typically a theme (e.g. Footy Colours Day, Orange for Harmony Day etc.).
The same standard of dress is expected of our students on these days. That is, that students come to school in clothing that is clean, safe and appropriate for the day’s activities. Free Dress Day clothing must be sun smart (i.e. sleeves).
What is NOT permitted on Free Dress Days:
>> Offensive words/slogans/logos
>> Cropped shirts
>> Singlets
>> Ripped clothing
